Breadwinner Energy® was founded in 2021, but I started building my way here years before that. In 2016, I quit my 9–5 at 23 years old, 7 months pregnant, with $100 to my name, no degree, no mentors, no connections, wrecked credit and no fucking clue how to build a business. I had every reason not to start. And every reason not to keep going. I built it anyway. I built through poverty, motherhood, abuse, divorce, & grief starting over and figuring shit out the hard way because I needed something I had never had: choice. The choice to leave. To provide. To say no. To access better healthcare. To own my time. To build a life nobody else controlled. That is why Breadwinner Energy® exists. Because women deserve more than money. We deserve the economic power to choose what happens next and the ownership to change what becomes possible for the generations behind us.

Breadwinner Energy® began because I needed options, freedom + wealth I didn't know could exist for me.
I grew up poor with my single mom in a trailer. I was bullied, survived childhood sexual abuse + lost my dad to suicide at 16.
In 2016, at 23 years old and 7 months pregnant, I quit my 9–5 with $100 to my name, no degree, wrecked credit + absolutely no resources or knowledge of business.
What started as survival became ownership. Then a decade of building businesses, helping hundreds of women build theirs + eventually creating something designed to exist far beyond me.
I'm Tay Nocktonick an Indigenous woman, Citizen Potawatomi Nation member, mother of two girls + Founder of Breadwinner Energy®.
I know exactly what it means to have very few options. I built Breadwinner Energy® so more women can build their own.
